Become part of an exciting department focused on the development of the software, systems, and hardware for US Department of Defense training systems. The Collins Aerospace Simulation and Training Solutions (STS) team is seeking committed engineering leaders who are passionate about creating innovative and cost-effective training solutions for the warfighter. The STS Program Area within the Mission Systems Strategic Solutions business supports the development of new capabilities for a wide range of Department of Defense Programs such as the E-2 Hawkeye, B-52, VH-92, and a variety of unnamed programs. The organization provides the full range of design, analysis, integration, verification, and validation activities in support of Simulation and Training programs.

The STS Systems Discipline Chief Engineer, a subject-matter expert, ensures the execution of standard work across all STS products and programs. They play a critical role in the knowledge management cycle by supporting Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities, updating standard work and best practices, and disseminating knowledge through training, community events, and other means. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.

What you will do:

• Accountable for Systems architectures and designs to address regulatory and customer specification compliance

• Accountable for using experience to identify and apply lessons learned

• Accountable for facilitating Design Approach Reviews, Non-Advocate Reviews and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities and corrective action boards within the systems discipline

• Accountable for developing and/or maintaining standard tools or templates for the systems discipline as well as systems roadmaps

• Accountable for transitioning lessons learned into applicable process improvements for the systems discipline

• Accountable for conducting systems discipline health reviews

• Responsible for mentoring teams/programs on new or redesign programs

• Responsible for mentoring engineers within the systems discipline

• May lead the systems-specific process and tools training activities

• Serves as the organizational champion of the Community of Practice

• Travel up to 25% both domestic and international.

  Qualifications you must have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

• Experience in bidding, executing and delivering large and complex systems development programs and products

• Experience in the engineering design and development of complex products involving multi-discipline engineering including software, hardware and systems

• Experience with engineering development in an Agile and DEVSECOPS environment.

• Experience in training and configuration management.

• Experienced in systems engineering fundamentals.

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. ACTIVE Secret Security Clearance or HIGHER REQUIRED

• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications we value:

• Systems engineering experience in the engineering design and development of simulation or training systems/products.

• Experience in project management

• Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering

• Prior experience with bid and pursuit work in a US government acquisition model.

• Ability to detect gaps in systems engineering fundamentals and advise a team for corrective action, in either document based or model-based systems engineering.

The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
