Job Description

Location: Northern California (Onsite in Rancho Cordova, CA/ Stockton/ Hayward ideally)

Salary: $170,000 - $250,000+ per year

Insight Global is looking for an experienced and dynamic senior leader to drive growth in Northern California as the Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET) Service Line Lead for a large engineering client. This role involves leading a successful team with a growing backlog and supporting critical projects in the region. Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 70-80 personnel in the Norcal Pacific area, predominantly field personnel, PM's, and admin support roles.

  • Manage a mix of professional engineers and non-professional engineers with 5-30+ years of experience, overseeing a great variety of projects including transportation, water, refineries, and commercial work.

  • Ensure efficient pursuit and delivery of projects, communication with team members at all levels, and provide mentorship to improve team dynamics.

  • Execute a local Construction Services business plan with a focus on quality, risk, and safety culture.

  • Drive consistent, professional services aligned with quality, risk management, profitability, client service, safety, and timely delivery.

  • Understand and apply CoMET and construction services business drivers and Project Management methodology.

  • Develop and maintain existing local client relationships and expand Kleinfelder's visibility in Northern California.

  • Provide continued professional development, technical growth, and coaching for CoMET staff.

  • Prepare proposals, materials testing fee estimates, interact with clients and municipalities, and provide thorough testing and inspection oversight.

  • Oversee all phases of project delivery, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing a broad portfolio of commercial, industrial, government, and institutional projects.

Other Information:

  • Be the driving force behind the setup of teams in 3 different groups supporting projects from North of Sacramento in Oraville to Victorville, covering horizontal, vertical, water, power, transportation, and federal markets.

  • Play a crucial role in business development and project execution, supported by a robust BD team and a Project controls support team.

Specifics:

  • Responsible for selling or leading the team to achieve $22 million in this fiscal year and building strong client relationships for healthy organic growth.

Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum 15+ years of construction services experience with a focus on Construction Materials and Testing services

  • Project management experience with knowledge of California applicable laws and regulations

  • 10+ years of supervisory/management experience

  • Previous experience in materials and soils lab supervision or management

  • Proven project management experience working closely with clients

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to lead project teams, and mentor staff

  • Knowledge of field testing procedures and laboratory testing procedures - Bachelors degree in Civil, Materials Engineering, or Construction Management preferred (equivalent industry experience accepted)

  • Professional Registration preferred but not required null
