Mechanical Engineer The Mechanical Engineer for Crystal Growth is responsible for application data generation, product design, manufacturing technical support, and market development to grow Momentive Technologies' business in the rapidly expanding wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductor market. The Mechanical Engineer for Crystal Growth will be a customer facing role with direct interactions with internal and external stakeholders. WBG semiconductors including SiC and GaN are redefining the transportation, energy, and communication industries. Responsibilities Will work with the commercial, technology, and operations teams to support customer development activities. Specifically, the engineer will work within the existing process to establish processing parameters to coat metal carbides on customer parts for crystal and wafer production. Establish design constraints and timeline for development projects. Understand customers' product roadmaps and translate this to MT's product, production, and quality roadmaps. Facilitate production of newly designed products with the operations team, defining process requirements, training operators, identifying supply chain requirements, and writing necessary documentation. Support quoting process by evaluating feasibility based on capability and defining materials, machine, and operations requirements. Support the commercial team to develop the sales pipeline by reviewing customer requirements, conducting product presentations, and evaluating market trends. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or Applied Physics with 5+ years' experience Semiconductor material processing background or knowledge Experience in project management, effectively planning and prioritizing deliverables in a cross-functional environment Ability to communicate with customers, clearly and independently, on projects Ability to complete hands-on work in an industrial environment with necessary PPE Preferred Qualifications: Crystal growth or high temperature ceramics experience CVD or high temperature vacuum coating processing knowledge Experience in new product development using Stage-Gate process Familiarity with the following: Mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks) Statistical software (e.g., Minitab) Material characterization techniques including XRD, SEM, EDS Key Relationships: Application Development Engineering team Plant Leadership Team and Shop Floor Employees Functional Leaders including Technology, Product Manager, Finance and Sales (internal and external) Travel Requirements: 10 to 15% Working Conditions: Day-to-day responsibilities will be both in an office environment, as well as on the manufacturing floor.
