Our small family owned and operated facility is seeking individuals with a heart for geriatric care and a passion to help loved ones with Dementia. We are a 16 bed Alzheimer's and Dementia facility located in beautiful Summerset, SD. We are looking for Unlicensed Medication Aides who can promote the individuality, independence, confidence, respect, and dignity our resident family members need and deserve. We are looking for team members that can assist with the daily organization of our residents medications, personal space, and overall therapeutic environment we have specifically created for those who suffer from Alzheimer's and Dementia. [Under the supervision of a licensed professional, the Medication Aide provides medications by oral and typical routes, by inhalation to the respiratory system, and by installation to eyes, ears, and nose.

  • Has successfully completed the state recommended medication aide course.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles and techniques involved in dealing with the physical, mental, and emotional health of adult clients.
  • Have skills necessary to assist or implement daily activities and exercises.
  • Demonstrate ability to assist client with ADL needs (i.e. baths, nail care, feeding, etc.)
  • Able to make decisions to work independently, to exercise good judgement.
  • Must be flexible, have emotional stability; acceptance of people; non-judgmental, non-prejudicial; and is highly motivated.

Follows facilitys policies and procedures to provide medications to clients.

Provides treatment to clients per physician or nurses orders.

Applies ointments, skin preparations, eardrops, and eye drops.

Examines clients skin and feet, provides appropriate care as needed and reports as necessary to licensed professionals.

Records medications provided on appropriate medical records to ensure accurate record keeping. Completes drug incident reports when problems occur.

Records nurses notes and changes in clients condition, skin problems noted, or other incidents.

Monitors vital signs and reports problems to licensed professional staff.

Quickly analyze and react to emergency and stressful situations, while remaining calm. Reports emergencies relating to clients, medications, or facility.
