Meta AR Electrical Engineering Architect in Sunnyvale, California

Summary:

As an Electrical Engineer Architect on the AR team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and design of our next-generation products. You will lead the efforts in miniaturizing critical components such as cameras, sensors and battery technology, ensuring our products remain at the forefront of innovation in terms of size, performance and efficiency. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with internal teams and external suppliers to drive our miniaturization roadmap forward. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping while working cross-functionally with teams such as product management, product architecture, engineering, research, operations, and technical program management to drive clarity, alignment, efficiency, and world-class engineering execution. We are looking for individuals who have experience in technology or product development both in-house and with external partners, and who have the breadth and depth of knowledge to drive the technical choices and direction of all the phases of the technology development process.

Required Skills:

AR Electrical Engineering Architect Responsibilities:

  1. Lead electrical system architecture definition for a product while providing technical leadership to a larger development team across multiple XFNs with clear understanding of the system level spec and how it translates down to the module and component level. Driving alignment across multiple XFN teams on architectural and product decisions.

  2. Own electrical design and oversee the development of highly complex systems delivering and ensuring that electrical systems achieve product goals while driving initiatives for higher product quality, miniaturization, while maintaining optimal cost and performance.

  3. Describe complex features and/or systems in detail and are able to communicate technical information effectively up and down the chain while mentoring a team of electrical engineers.

  4. Develop detailed understanding of the goals and strategy of your larger org and company, as well as engineering trends within the industry. You're able to drive the EE team's goals and technical direction, that spans generation of products with clear impact on the product roadmap.

  5. Collaborate in a team environment and work across engineering disciplines to develop systems and manage trade offs across chip design, mechanics, optics, sensors, haptics, firmware and software.

  6. Work closely with suppliers and influence their roadmap and uplevel their capabilities to ensure their deliverables can match the product roadmap.

  7. Lead the team from the front and have the ability to join them in the trenches requires you to be comfortable around schematics, specifying components, directing board layouts, leading system level design reviews, Signal Integrity and Power Integrity, and the associated design trade-offs in a highly miniaturized system.

  8. Ability to work in distributed team environment.

  9. Contribute to building and sustaining internal Meta community through recruitment, mentorship, allyship, and a commitment to Meta’s diversity equity and inclusion goals.

  10. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.

  11. Inform prioritization of work across teams and disciplines and actively participate in resolving technical conflicts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 15+ years of industry experience along with a BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

  2. Solid and demonstrable knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals

  3. Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent

  4. Experience with use of lab equipment if required

  5. Experience working with multiple of these technologies: digital signal processing, real-time image processing, display engineering, camera modules, mobile SoC and PMIC, or Battery Management System

  6. Experience leading technical teams, cross-functional groups and driving vendor roadmaps against project plans

  7. Effective technical communication skills

  1. MS or PHD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

  2. 20+ years of industry experience

  3. Experience with Camera design along with its individual subsystems while understanding the trade-offs for high speed signaling over MIPI C-PHY/D-PHY, PCIe, USB SS and UFS

  4. Experience with IMUs/sensor physical sensor systems with an understanding of calibration methods

  5. Experience with vision systems and calibration algorithms, machine level algorithms and the level of computation and memory it drives.

  6. Experience with audio, interfaces and subtleties of optimizing the system

  7. Experience programming in languages like Python or C/C++

  8. Experience with circuit design in high speed circuits, Verilog/FPGAs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, firmware, and programmable logic based development

  9. Experience designing for HDI flexible and rigid substrates for high volume cost optimized applications

  10. Experience developing manufacturing tests for high-volume consumer products

  11. Experience defining system architecture based on product specification

  12. Consumer Electronics experience and/or working within a mass production environment

Public Compensation:

$253,000/year to $319,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
