Amazon Senior SoC Technical Program Manager, Hardware Compute Group in Sunnyvale, California

The ideal candidate will be technical, creative, a strong communicator, able to orchestrate a multisite development team, and drive solutions in collaboration with teams and stakeholders.

As a SoC Technical Program Manager you will interface with cross-functional engineering and program/product management teams to develop ASIC/SOC solutions that will go into Amazon Devices. In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with engineering leaders (SOC / ASIC leads) to create project execution plans for SOC development considering all criteria to design products that meet the power/performance and functional specs for all use case conditions.

  • Drive best Program Management practices for the team and organization at large.

  • In collaboration with the design development engineering, take ownership of the periodic Engineering status review process to the HCG leadership.

  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities

  • Work with product/program management leads to ensure that the ASIC development meets schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

  • Drive engineering project execution, make technical trade-off recommendations, understand the technical challenges, enable solutions, track and report on status, and resolve blocking issues.

  • Collaborate with architecture, hardware, software, firmware, packaging and PCB teams on ensuring cross-functional deliverables are identified and tracked.

  • Work with external IP and silicon vendors and partners to complete the execution of projects in time.

Key job responsibilities

As a Senior SoC Technical Program Manager, you will interface with cross-functional engineering and program/product management teams to develop SOC and IP solutions that will go into Amazon Devices. As part of the Silicon Program management team, the role provides scope for growing into other areas of responsibilities in SOC program, SW and HW product management. In this role you will:

1) Work with the product managers, engineering managers and architects to manage the programs for SoC and Organic IP development 2) create delivery plan and schedule, track deliverables and Jira indicators for Silicon blocks and IP.

3) Manage and report out on the project status, risk reviews from project approval through production. 4) Bring together technical experts and engineering resource owners in firmware, validation, modeling, RTL etc to drive resolution of issues and unblock progress. 5) Work with product and other program management leads to ensure that SoC development meets schedule, cost, and KPIs. 6) Conduct weekly product readiness review with stakeholders along with risk reviews. 7) Build relationships with design service providers and communicate/exchange roadmap development. 8) Work with legal, operations team and engineering teams to negotiate and close contracts efficiently – time, resource and money.

You must be fully competent in 1) a variety of project management tools including Confluence, Excel, Jira/Jama 2) SOC/IP design methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project life-cycle and 3) exhibit demonstrated proficiency in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking. The candidate should also have the experience of working through one or more of the various design phases of Silicon development which are architecture definition, RTL design, Verification, IP design, Physical design, post silicon design and bring up.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
