Google Technical Program Manager III, Storage Systems Software in Sunnyvale, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in program management.

  • Experience in software development, architecture and implementing software systems.

  • Experience with technology development and integration in products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

  • Experience in storage software stack (e.g., system utilities, file systems, device drivers, and controller firmware).

  • Experience in software engineering as a developer or development manager, with knowledge of software development processes, tools, software test/qualification, release methodologies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent program management skills, with the ability to drive and land software programs.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Storage Software Technical Program Manager, you will be helping to lead software development through exciting and challenging changes and creating software for the latest storage products. You will work with a range of cross-functional partners across Google Cloud Platforms.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Lead system software development for Google's latest storage platforms (e.g., Hard Disk Drive(HDD)/Solid State Drive (SSD)) and integration with Cloud and internal product area partners.

  • Drive planning engagement and prioritization with Platforms software teams and partners across Cloud, Technical Infrastructure, and other Google Product Areas including Drive, Data Center Software, Kernel, and Google Compute Engine.

  • Identify, communicate, and collaborate with stakeholders within one or more teams to drive impact and work toward mutual goals, build, maintain and enhance business, operational, and management dashboards.

  • Prioritize program goals, understand and translate other stakeholders’ needs into program goals and prioritized deliverables, and contribute to decisions on prioritizing goals and deliverables.
