Within the Technology Portfolio Management team, the Portfolio Management Transformation Manager will work with the Director and business leaders to drive the enterprise optimization of our forecasting and pricing model. This role will help implementing changes to the existing model and defining the future state to drive transparent and effective investment decisions.

The successful candidate will work with the Director, Portfolio Transformation and business leaders to drive solutions design, requirements definition and enablement. As a Portfolio Manager, you will establish strong partnership with key stakeholders, data-driven mindset, and passion for process and tooling innovation. This role will require strong change management and effective communication to evolve the way we manage our investment.

This is a hybrid role based; Hybrid colleagues work a mix of in-office and virtual days, coming into the office 3 days per week. Leaders and colleagues will plan common days for in-person connection, collaboration, and events.

What you’ll do:

  • Supports the enterprise-wide governance of portfolio management practices passionate about driving continuous optimization of processes, tools and insights to effectively manage the technology investment enabling continuous transparency into forecast and actuals.

  • Assist in the definition, planning, and build of multi-year roadmap to enable end to end capabilities to achieve outcomes.

  • Provide actionable insights to Technology and Business Leadership to manage delivery risk and optimize investments across and within portfolios.

  • Using reporting tools, monitors the progress of the financial and capacity planning and forecasting across a $2B Technology investment portfolio, including scenario planning and analytics. Ensure headcount forecasts and actuals are accurate and aligned to financial targets.

  • Champion a consistent taxonomy, reporting and metrics with Portfolio, Engineering, and Product leaders to enable data integrity, increase adoption and drive decisions.

  • Build an effective change management and feedback approach with Technology, Business, Product, and Finance partners to identify and action continual improvement opportunities.

  • Build a positive relationship with Tech Finance to collaborate and build deliverables for forecasting, annual, iterative and long-range plans.

  • Manage Technology and Business partners to provide transparency into actuals costing while effectively sharing risks and opportunities.

Who you are:

  • Strong verbal and communication skills, from preparation through execution, ability to understand your audience and build presentations to structure messages that effectively inform and persuade.

  • Continual Improvement and Innovation – Passion for continual improvement, process design, and automation; seeks new ways to improve effectiveness, quality, and compliance

  • Stakeholder Management – Confident and clear communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence Executive leaders / SMEs, and drive progress and decision making

  • Business and Technical Knowledge – Understanding of industry trends in Financial Services (Payments, FinTech) and American Express’ business model.

  • Automation and PPM / Agile Lifecycle Tools - Well-versed in the processes and tools that drive Technology portfolio and financial management such as Rally, Jira, Clarity, Apptio, Oracle, and Ariba. Bias and Ability to “automate the automatable”.

  • Results Oriented – Track record of driving results across multiple channels and initiatives in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

  • Problem solver with excellent analytical and data management skills.

  • Advanced MS Excel, Oracle/Smart View and Access skills and highly proficient across other MS Office applications is critical.

  • Working knowledge of technology investment planning, resource management and investment cost modeling is highly desirable.

  • Familiar with Agile and SAFe methodologies; empathetic to Agile team needs.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
