About the role

Perfectly positioned in Sydney’s CBD, Hilton Sydney offers contemporary design and unpretentious luxury. With 587 well positioned rooms, one of the largest Conferencing & Events spaces in Australia, celebrity Chef Luke Mangan's glass Brasserie, iconic heritage listed Marble Bar, buzzing Zeta Bar and Caffe Cino, this flagship, big box hotel holds a place of prestige within the market. We have ambitious plans to further enhance the product in the next 12 months and we are excited to welcome a Director of Operations who can work with us to make this vision come alive.

As you may expect with such a prominent property, we have high expectations of our new Director of Operations as they will fulfil a key leadership role within our region as well as being a leader amongst the Sydney market hoteliers.

We welcome candidates who have strong Hotel Management experience and if this is you, we know you already have a strong idea of what is involved in the tasks and accountabilities of such a position. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate these specific skills and experiences:

  • Previous Director of Operations, Hotel/General Manager experience with thorough knowledge of the Australian market in a highly visibly position.
  • Demonstrated positive owner relations within a complex operation.
  • A substantial successful track record in hotel operations including experience in hotels with large conference and events facilities.
  • Ability to show strong commercial outcomes in a competitive city environment.
  • Large scale project management.
  • Ability to demonstrate true five-star product delivery.

As well as hold these personal attributes:

  • Excellent people leader with the demonstrated ability to inspire, coach, mentor and lead Team Members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong financial acumen with excellent cost control and profit generating skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in drafting and managing budgets/revenue proposals; analysing and forecasting results/market segments and rates.
  • Exceptional stake holder management skills to manage multiple stakeholder expectations including General Managers, Hilton leadership and Owners.
  • The ability to evolve a team to the calibre befitting of the regional flagship property.
