Your day-to-day

As Director of Sales at Holiday Inn Sydney Potts Point, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies for the hotel to support the maximisation of rooms, and food and beverage revenue performance and ensure sales goals are achieved.

  • Lead the commercial team and the implementation of an effective commercial strategy to deliver optimum business mix, achieve maximised results across all revenue streams and deliver superior market positioning.

  • Maintain current knowledge of business performance and understand well the dynamics of the local market, demand generators as well as economic and consumer trends. Use this knowledge to support the implementation of market share growth strategies as well as enhance differentiated positioning.

  • Ensure that the correct focus is applied to the creation of opportunities for new business, incremental growth as well as retention.

  • Work closely with Revenue Management to ensure that pricing and yield management principles are being communicated and implemented by the entire team.

  • Develop and manage costs, budgets and expenses to generate maximum returns.

  • Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyse current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan.

  • Work with the hotel leadership team to ensure that the hotel is positioned to ensure a brand and market leadership position; and to create a culture that reflects the essence of the brand.

  • Work with the hotel leadership team to ensure quality product delivery, design products and concepts to improve the guest experience, and maximise revenue and profit.

  • Build, motivate and lead an effective and engaged sales and marketing team. Implement strategies to identify future talent needs and develop high performers.

What we need from you

  • Permanent Resident / Citizen or with full unrestricted working rights in Australia.

  • Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in Sales, Marketing, Business or Hospitality Management.

  • Minimum 3 years’ sales experience, preferably with 1 year in a multi-unit capacity with direct supervisory experience over a sales team, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Strategic thinker who understands industry dynamics, trends and disciplines and can develop strategies around them.

  • In-depth knowledge of Sales principles and techniques as they apply to the hotel industry.

  • Strong Leadership skills in managing a team to drive for results

  • Comprehension of Hotel systems and revenue management principles.

  • Ability to manage a diverse group of stakeholders both internal and external.

  • Proactive approach to developing and maintaining strong relations with stakeholders.

  • Ability to analyse, identify key issues, interpret and extract trends from base information.

  • Strong presentation, commercial and communication skills.
