SUNY Upstate Medical University Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention Outreach & Education Coordinator in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
The Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention Outreach & Education Coordinator is responsible for injury prevention, outreach, and education of the pediatric trauma program. As a key member of the multidisciplinary pediatric trauma team, this person identifies and analyzes injury mechanism trends to develop programs consistent with the Pediatric Trauma Center Data. This role is responsible for educating the community about injury prevention and health care professionals regarding pediatric trauma care. A key component is raising the visibility of Golisano Children's Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center through public awareness and community outreach activities. This position will incorporate criteria outlined in the most current American College of Surgeons Resource Document from the Optimal Care of Injured Patient; Level 1 Recommendations. This position will collaborate with the Upstate Adult Trauma program as well as the Safe Kids Coordinator for Golisano Children's Hospital. Will serve as a backup to the Process Improvement Coordinator as needed. Collaborates with Trauma Nurse Navigator to assist with Trauma Survivors Network.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN required. Bachelors degree in Nursing and 3 years of post-licensure acute care RN experience OR Associates degree in Nursing and 5 years of post-licensure acute care RN experience required. CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment. Excellent oral/ written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience coordinating events, teaching, and evidence based programming preferred. Experience with pediatric trauma patients and pediatric trauma systems preferred. Familiarity with marketing/social media communications preferred.
Work Days:
M-F daytime hours with occasional evening/weekend for special events
