Job Title: Staff Accountant

Department: Finance

Reports To: Director of Facility Accounting

FLSA Status: Exempt / Full-Time

Salary: $58-$65K/annually

Facility: The Oncenter / Empower FCU Amphitheater

Location: Syracuse, NY

THE ROLE

As a Staff Accountant at The Oncenter and Empower FCU Amphitheater, you will play an important role in the daily functions of the Finance Department. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to general accounting functions, financial reporting and analysis, event settlements, A/R and A/P processing, payroll processing, audit assistance, monthly/year-end close processing as well as other various functions. The staff accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance and assist with any projects as necessary.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Analyze financial performance and cost analysis; recommend appropriate actions or changes to meet business goals.

  • Assist in preparing budget including supporting documentation.

  • Assist in preparing monthly forecasts including supporting documentation such as monthly revenue detailed projections.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements.

  • Prepare, perform, or assist with event settlements.

  • Assist the Director of Finance with special reports as needed, including the preparation of various accounting statements, inventory reports, graphs, account reconciliation, and financial reports.

  • Learn and become familiar with the payroll processes.

  • Process and input journal entries.

  • Maintain box office detail records and account analysis.

  • Perform account analysis and records on general ledger accounts.

  • Prepare and analyze information for financial statements and reports.

  • Prepare and perform bank reconciliations.

  • Perform AR and AP data entry.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university;

  • 1-2 years of related accounting experience,

  • Or a similar combination of education and experience.

SKILLS YOU’LL NEED

  • Thorough knowledge of financial and cost accounting.

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office.

  • Occasionally required to work irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Excellent math skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, management, vendors, and clients.

  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Close vision for review of accounting information on a PC monitor or hard copy output.

  • Regular use of hands for typing and coding information is required.

  • Required to sit for long hours, use hands to handle files, type, and operate office machines.
