Job Description

  • Perform moderately complex tax activities related to corporate tax, payroll tax, GST, FBT and withholding for Australia and New Zealand Regions. Also perform moderately complex tasks in compliance with service level agreement, process, policies, and procedures.

  • Reviews workpaper, tax returns, and analysis prepared by junior team members.

  • Reviews impact of Notices on current and prior year Tax Returns and recommends action plans to onshore managers

  • Provides guidance to junior team members in navigating through ATO and IRD tax portals

  • Responds and addresses moderately complex to complex queries and requests from internal departments with the guidance of local and onshore managers.

  • Completes research to support positions taken in the tax returns, make recommendations, and propose solutions to onshore managers to resolve typical project issues and basic tax matters

  • Assists junior tax specialist in carrying out responsibilities and understand moderately complex tax concepts and processes

  • Collaborates with accounting, finance, treasury, and relevant parties from different segment to gather financials, apportionment schedules, and supporting calculations to assist in the completion of projects assigned.

  • Assists manager in developing and maintaining project excel-based trackers or dashboards to monitor the overall status of the projects.

  • Contribute to various and simultaneous process improvement initiatives to streamline processes, improve customer experience, and increase productivity.

  • Escalate issues and recommend resolutions to the local manager timely. Contribute specialized expertise to different assigned projects and may provide key updates to local and onshore managers.

  • Prepare assigned quarterly tax effect accounting entries and statutory tax notes.

  • Maintain the SOP/DTP of current processes and incorporate documentation updates as required.

  • Propose alternatives in identified issues and assist in investigating and in resolving common and unusual issues.
