Staff Electrical Engineer - Analog / Mixed-Signal IC design

Job Description

Analog / Mixed-Signal IC design engineering position that will provide key contributions to state of the art circuits for use in high performance networking and communications products. Involvement in product definition, design, layout, lab verification, and release to production. IC design experience with strong emphasis on very high performance Phase Locked Loop (PLL) design. Will be involved with several different aspects of the design flow including, but not limited to, the following duties:

Product Definition: Will work with technical marketers and customers to define the technical requirements and specifications. Will help translate these specifications into a PRD (product requirements document) and FSD (Functional Specification Document) .

Research: Will research potential design solutions to meet the required targets and specifications. Will review technical papers and documents in order to investigate possible solutions.

Design: Will use EDA tools to design circuits required for networking and communications products. Will utilize own understanding of transistor modeling and circuit noise theory to achieve very low noise and high performance. Will perform modeling of these circuits and optimize as necessary to meet the design specifications.

Simulation & Verification: Will use EDA tools to thoroughly simulate and verify that circuits have correct function and meet all target performance specifications.

Layout: Will guide layout engineering team and use EDA tools to layout circuit blocks in a variety of different integrated circuit processes. Will utilize knowledge of optimal layout techniques to achieve good matching, low parasitics, and minimal crosstalk between circuit blocks. Will run extraction tools and re-simulate the circuit to analyze the layout effects and optimize if necessary.

Lab Validation: 5% Will work with verification engineers to verify the product designs and circuit blocks in the lab using the appropriate equipment. Will work with verification and test engineers to verify and characterize the circuit performance.
