We have a job opening and exciting opportunity for a full time Purchasing Assistant in our Tiffin, OH or Earth City, MO or Andersonville, TN location. The primary responsibility of the Purchasing Assistant is confirming all purchase orders (PO's) and other purchasing related activities as assigned, including expediting.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and update open PO confirmation reports daily.
  • Daily EDI report shows any EDI PO's that were not confirmed back from the vendor.
  • Respond to various item specific requests from Customer Service and Sales.
  • Work with vendors and various internal departments on any item issues.
  • If an item is rejected off of a PO or is discontinued the purchasing assistant notifies Item Maintenance and customer service so the item can be flagged correctly in VAI and any open sales orders can be cancelled.
  • Report any price differences to Item Maintenance and update the open PO so it can be processed by the vendor.
  • Communicate any EDI transmission issues to the vendor and IT.
  • Communicate with warehouse and buyers on PO/Shipping discrepancies.
  • Notifies buyers of any item issues on the created PO's including quantity errors, minimum orders, freight charges or any general questions related to the PO.
  • Direct line of communication with Vendor Relations.
  • Including vendor minimum, pricing, and account number issues.
  • Communicate any transmission issues to the vendor and IT.
  • Cross train for Expeditor and Impact Specialist roles.
  • Contact vendors to verify delivery dates.
  • Maintain and update open purchase orders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

     

What You will Need to be Successful:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-2 years of previous experience in an accounting, finance, analytical or business modeling role is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to multi task and prioritize duties as well as have critical thinking skills.
  • With the possibility of a work from home hybrid model (in office part of the week and remote part of the week).
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug screening.
