Our Aerospace Fuels Division have an opportunity for a Senior Engineer – Design, for aircraft fuel and inerting system components for civil and military applications. Based at our Eaton Ltd site in Titchfield, Hampshire.
The role will deliver the product design activities for a wide range aircraft pumps, valves and actuator products spanning the complete product lifecycle from concept development, detailed design, development, verification and qualification through to post design support. Producing models and detailed manufacturing drawings using CREO 3D CAD package preferred, experience of product design on mechanical and electro mechanical products is essential.
What you’ll do:
The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills enabling the candidate to execute their activity’s to quality cost and time commitments.
Previous experience working in a safety critical arena, such as aerospace, automotive, rail or nuclear industry would be advantageous, although applicants from other high technology engineering backgrounds will be considered.
Generate designs of Aircraft fuel system products to meet customer requirements using 3D CAD (CREO).
Complete tolerance line ups, detailed drawings, DFMEAs, Engineering Change Requests, Customer approval paperwork and other design related activities.
Participate in DFMA activities.
Investigate and sentence non conformance requests, provide general technical support, manage obsolescence etc. whilst providing robust technical justifications for decisions.
Drive to meet turnaround time goals / commitment dates for closure of Engineering activities. These activities have a direct impact on monthly business finances (sales and scrap) and customer on time delivery.
Review and provide clear documentation (marked up prints) of changes required to drawings to address manufacturing / supplier issues such as obsolesence, manufacturing easement, cost out, component definition etc.
Support the process of creating customer approval paperwork where required, in order to gain customer approval for permanent changes to designs.
Provide technical authority to sign off Non-conformance requests and detailed manufacturing drawings.
Design approval for In-Service and Cost out projects where required.
Present designs at Preliminary, Critical and Detailed design reviews, both internal and customer.
Present and attend assessments of Non-conformance requests and drawing change applications at material and change review boards.
Qualifications:
Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Engineering experience in a relevant professional engineering environment ideally gained in the aerospace or equivalent high technology industry
Skills:
Electro/Mechanical Engineering, ideally of aircraft fuel system products.
Knowledge of encapsulate products used on electrical/electronic components would be useful
Good organisational and planning skills with an ability to communicate well with customers (Internal and External).
Confidence in own technical ability, must be decisive and firm.
Capable of working effectively and efficiently under pressure.
Strong collaborative skills.
Strong problem solving skills.
Solutions driven with good documentation practice.
Excellent time management and project/task prioritisation skills.
Strong customer focus mindset.
Willingness to adopt flexible work patterns when required to meet business needs.
Willingness and ability to work with Engineers and Production staff at all levels.
Responsive to the needs of the task in hand.
Design experience with Electro / Mechanical machines and electronic packaging and cooling.
Working knowledge that can immediately be used with Design for Six Sigma activities.
Experience with Investment Castings and the subsequent machining of them.
Meet Design to Cost targets.
Proven CREO experience at producing detailed manufcaturing drawings
