Your role at Clorox:

This leader is responsible for ensuring central oversight and standardization of the Health, Safety & Environment function and culture across LATAM BU and associated plants. This leader ensures that these plants are fulfilling central HSE policies, programs, and priorities, works towards achieving enterprise HSE objectives, connects plant teams with relevant HSE technical experts in the team, and inspires the development of a strong, consistent safety culture. In addition, this leader will be a part of the LATAM leadership squad and will collaborate with the center HSE COE leaders (security, environmental, etc.) to support plant safety needs.

In this role, you will:

Plant Oversight and Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coach, develop Plant Safety Manager direct reports for our plants to create a strong, consistent safety culture and deliver enterprise HSE objectives

  • Disseminate HSE best practices among plants and ensure consistent application across BU

  • Ensure HSE policies and procedures are implemented in a standardized process across plants

  • Connect plant teams with relevant HSE stakeholders and COE experts

  • Inspire and promote the development of a consistent safety culture across plants

  • Create and oversee a standardized safety committee structure within each plant (e.g., OSHA, training)

  • Ensure FDA regulations are incorporated into plant-level initiatives and followed by plant HSE teams

Enterprise-level Responsibilities:

  • Develop, support implementation of, and maintain central EH&S policies, programs and best practice adoption

  • Document BU themes associated with plant-level incident investigations and lessons learned into central repository and identify associated corrective actions

  • Provide plant- and BU-specific input (including FDA requirements) to inform HSE standards, policies, and procedures

  • Collaborate with HSE Leads for other BUs in Community of Practice

BU-Level Leadership Visibility:

  • Ensure BU-level HSE accountability by participating and providing HSE-related updates, themes, guidance and proactive leadership in BU leadership squad meetings

  • Partner with LATAM leadership in defining BU-specific safety objectives

  • Communicate with LATAM leadership and functional representatives on HSE-related matters and supporting actions/metrics/progress

What we look for:

Years and Type of Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience with 3+ years of technical experience in occupational health and safety experience in a manufacturing or related environment

  • Experience managing a team across with increasing responsibility and a demonstrated track record of success and culture building across a region or multiple plants

  • Successful at attracting, cultivating, and retaining diverse high performing, diverse teams

  • Has experience with OSHA and other regulatory governing bodies on manufacturing safety

Skills and Abilities:

  • Collaborates effectively and frequently with key BU and Plant stakeholders; is a trusted advisor who can influence HSE-related decisions through an operational lens

  • Active knowledge of HSE-related topics and challenges, regulatory requirements, enterprise goals and culture management

  • Partners effectively with BU and Plant leaders to translate safety solutions through business dialogue

  • Can execute a comprehensive, uniform safety culture across the Clorox BU and plant-levels

  • Synthesizes HSE-related concerns and appropriate recommendations that can be escalated appropriately to the central team

  • Builds high performing teams; is a highly effective coach to dispersed team members; Provides feedback that stretches individual development

  • Challenges and supports the team to explore and develop new and innovative approaches to achieve enterprise safety goals

Education Level/Degree:

  • BS/BA degree or higher in Health, Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene or related degree

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP); Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or related certification preferred
