Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What your background should look like:

Responsibilities

  • • The Product Validation Engineer will review assigned test requests and recommend testing strategies to ensure TE products meet customer performance and reliability needs while maximizing laboratory resource efficiencies.

  • • Understand test request and establish work requirements including instrumentation, test sequence, test programming and fixture requirements as needed.

  • • Perform estimates of labor and materials required for testing, including project test scheduling.

  • • Perform electrical and mechanical testing on TE products per test procedures.

  • • Review active test programs and final test results to ensure that performance and reliability requirements are met.

  • • Maintain the integrity of test results by complying with corporate, business unit and local quality system requirements.

  • • Write detailed test procedures and test reports as needed to support the test lab and its customers in performing testing.

  • • Elaborate tear down and failure analysis.

  • • Recommend testing protocols to address specific customer needs

  • • Collaborate with other lab engineers or interdisciplinary teams to plan and conduct complex test programs.

  • • Assist in identification of new or replacement test equipment for purchase.

  • • Lab equipment administration.

  • • Work with product development engineers to determine strategies to meet present and future test requirements.

  • • Ensure all safety requirements are met.

  • • Ensure good engineering practices are followed.

Skill set and Profile

  • • BS in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics or related.

  • • 5+ years of experience in understanding top level functional requirement of a product, designing the set-up to execute tests and judge results according to the product performance criteria.

  • • Experience in electrical & mechanical design consideration for electrical and electromechanical product testing/validation in industrial, medical or automotive markets.

  • • Hands on experience for tearing apart assemblies / sub-assemblies of electromechanical parts.

  • • Good conceptual, problem solving and analytical skills.

  • • Experience writing technical reports.

  • • Capable of working with drawings, diagrams, and schematics.

  • • Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.

  • • Strong Technical Aptitude with Willingness to explore & learn new Technologies for test instrumentation.

  • • Demonstrated Experience of working in a fast paced and changing environment with tight deadlines.

  • • Knowledge of six sigma tools will be an added advantage.

  • • Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (ISO,UL, IEC, MIL etc.) is an advantage.

  • • Must be proficient in English.
