Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Capture Manager to join its Worldwide Public Sector team in Japan. Join this dynamic team that to work on the most interesting and challenging growth opportunities in AWS.

This team works with central government departments/ministries, state and local governments, public corporations, education institutions, EdTech firms, non-profit entities, and healthcare organisations as well as our AWS Partner Network.

AWS is known for it’s customer obsession and this role is critical in identifying and shaping long term customer outcomes and value. This role will collaborate with a range of teams across AWS, including sales, marketing, partner, business development, legal and public policy and business leaders to develop and agree on strategic opportunities and pursuits and work with sales leaders to define inputs, develop win themes and shaping strategies for future procurement of AWS Cloud and AWS Partners. In this role, you responsible for building, growing, and evolving the larger more complex deals and Common Use Arrangement procurement vehicles in the Japan public sector.

The ideal candidate will have prior capture, strategic pursuits, consulting, or business development experience, and a demonstrated understanding of cloud adoption trends and challenges in the Japan public sector. You must be capable of developing trusted partnerships with senior customer and influencer stakeholders to shape long-term pursuits of cloud procurement, and more broadly, the buying behaviours of public sector customers and Partners. You must be able to think big and strategically about a customer’s mission to then build and convey compelling value propositions. To succeed in this role, you will need to communicate effectively, lead when ambiguity levels are high, be driven to earn trust, and embrace ownership. You will be a thought leader on procurement reform relating to cloud computing, procurement awareness, and other program pursuits.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with a multitude of customer, partner, and internal AWS teams to orchestrate opportunity development and win related pursuits

  • Be the single-threaded owner for building and evolving AWS procurement vehicles and contracts for the Japan public sector

  • Grow revenue for AWS procurement vehicles and contracts in Japan by removing blockers and encouraging spend through value and volume aggregation

  • Collaborate with key executives and decision makers within lead IT procurement agencies to build next-generation AWS procurement and contract vehicles

  • Analyse successful AWS procurement and contract vehicles to identify constraints and root causes that inhibit growth and re-use of the model

  • Influence and coordinate change of longstanding AWS processes to allow lead IT procurement agencies to implement successful AWS procurement and contract vehicles more easily

A day in the life

  • Collaborate with key executives and decision makers change within both Public Sector and AWS Partner organisations.

  • Work with a multitude of customer, Partner, and internal AWS teams to orchestrate opportunity development and win related pursuits

  • Work with the broader in-country industry advisors/consultants, industry bodies and other entities that influence procurement environments, to shape and develop long-term strategies, such as Cloud First strategies

  • Help customers, Partners, and industry at-large, to understand the nuances of public cloud in general, and cloud procurement in particular, to develop a cloud conducive environment for the public sector and AWS

About the team

This Japan based Capture Manager will for part of the fast growing Japan WWPS Public Sector business as well as work as a key member of a Global Capture organisation, focused on innovative and compelling value propositions to Government and Partners to adopt AWS cloud services.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience, preferably for government entities

  • 5+ years of professional experience in the technology industry

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience developing sales strategies that influence go to market decisions at the organizational level

  • Experience managing innovation and sales programs across cross functional teams, building processes and improvements

  • Japanese and English Fluency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations

  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements
