下記が主な業務となります。

• 日本のオペレーションが計画する中期および年次計画に基づいてフルフィルメントセンターとソートセンターの立ち上げを実現する。

• 社内各部署及び国内外の協力会社と連携し、継続的に安全な工事現場環境をつくり、設備の安全性と品質を向上させる。

• 安全基準とエンジニアリング指針に則り設備の問題を早期に検出し、安全、品質、工期、コストのバランスを考慮しながらソリューションを提案・実行し解決する。また問題の重大性や優先度を適切に判断し、迅速に解決させるためのコミュニケーションをリードする。

• 計画された設備の能力が達成できるよう生産プロセスの分析ならびに搬送テストの実行をリードする。

• 既存の設備仕様や業務プロセスに対する低コスト化・効率化の推進や改善に向けたアイデアを自ら提案・実行し、標準化する。

Amazon Japan is seeking a senior engineer in the engineering department of the JCFS (Japan Customer Fulfillment Solutions), which will manage construction of new fulfillment centers and sort centers, as well as installation and commissioning of material handling equipment and inventory storage equipment. This position will provide technical leadership while collaborating and growing with Amazon internal or global team and external suppliers to maximize capacity and quality of equipment and processes while maintaining safety and cost balance. In addition, they will propose optimal solutions depending on the situation for new technical issues that arise with the introduction of equipment with new technology including automation, and resolve them in a timely manner while building consensus with relevant stakeholders. By providing guidance, they will successfully start up the equipment, contributing to shortening lead times and reducing transportation costs for products delivered to Japanese customers. Furthermore, they contribute to the scaling up of technology by feeding back the lessons learned through solving technical issues to standards such as equipment specifications and work processes for continuous improvement.

• Realize the launch of fulfillment centers and sort centers based on the medium-term and annual plans planned by Japan operations.

• Collaborate with internal departments and domestic or overseas partner companies to continually create a safe environment for construction, and improve the safety and quality of equipment.

• Detect equipment problems early in accordance with safety standards and engineering guidelines, and implement solutions while considering the balance between safety, quality, schedule, and cost. In addition, they will appropriately judge the severity and priority of the problem and lead communication to quickly resolve it.

• Lead analysis of production processes and execution of transportation tests to ensure planned equipment capacity is achieved.

• Propose and implement ideas to standardize existing equipment specifications and work processes to promote and improve cost reduction and efficiency.

Key job responsibilities

• 複数の工事請負業者が同じ現場で安全かつ計画どおりに工事が行えるよう不安全を取り除き、工程の調整を行う。

• 設備の安全・品質の標準仕様に則り、据え付けられた設備の品質の検査や能力テストを実施し、検出した不具合について責任区分を明確にした上で社内責任部署あるいは協力会社へ対策指示を行い、是正完了まで管理する。

• 稼働開始後の設備トラブルについて協力会社と連携して要因を特定して対策と再発防止策を定める。設備要求仕様を満足し安定稼働を確認した後、設備の検収を行い、生産管理チームと設備保全チームへ設備を移管する。

• 新規物流拠点のマテハン（搬送）設備仕様、オペレーションプロセス、レイアウトを把握し、オペレーションチームと連携した稼働立ち上げを技術的にリードする。

• マテハン設備の安全性や品質の向上や業務プロセスの改善のための標準化活動を行う。グローバルのAmazonエンジニアリングチームとコミュニケーションをとりながら、新しいツールやメカニズムを日本に導入する。

• Eliminate unsafe conditions and coordinate processes so that multiple construction contractors can perform construction work safely and as planned at the same site.

• Conduct quality inspections and performance tests on installed equipment in accordance with the standard specifications for equipment safety and quality, clarify the division of responsibility for detected defects, and manage issue until the correction is completed by conducting internal departments or subcontractors.

• Work with partner companies to identify the cause and establish measures to prevent recurrence for the equipment troubles that occur after the start of operation. Conduct final acceptance and handover the equipment to the operation and maintenance team after confirming that the equipment meets the required specifications and is operating stably.

• Understand the material handling equipment specifications, operational processes, and layout of new sites, and technically lead the start-up of operations in collaboration with the operation team.

• Carry out standardization activities to improve the safety and quality of material handling equipment and improve work processes. Introducing new tools and mechanisms in Japan while communicating with the global Amazon engineering team.

A day in the life

コンストラクションマネージャーとして一週間に34日を工事中のサイトで勤務しベンダーの安全オーディットや工程調整を行います。また据付後のマテハン設備の品質検査や搬送能力テストをリードします。問題点はベンダーへフィードバックし、再発防止を防ぐため標準の更新を行います。業務を進めるうえで何か迷うことがあれば、チャットやF2Fの会話を通して気軽に相談しながら、チーム全体でサポートし合います。フレックスが基本ですが、原則18時以降は会議やメールは行いません。有給休暇の取得率も高く長期休暇も、もちろん取得可能です。

A construction manager travels to construction sites three to four days a week to conducts safety audits and coordinate processes. They also lead qualification and tests after installation of equipment. They provide feedback to vendors about problems, and update standards to prevent recurrence. If they have any questions while working, feel free to consult other members through chat or F2F conversations, and the entire team will support each other. Flextime is the norm, and generally there are no meetings or emails after 6pm. We have a high rate of paid vacations, and of course they can take long vacations.

About the team

チームメンバーは11名で、年間2～4サイトを立ち上げるため、各サイトにつきプロジェクトマネージャー1名と施工管理者3名が着工から稼働までプロジェクトを指揮します。 チームメンバーは機械・電気工学から建設の分野までさまざまなバックグラウンドを持っていますが、定期的なチームミーティングや現場レビューを通じてお互いの知識や経験を共有し、オープンな議論を行っています。 そうすることで個人のスキル向上を促しながら、チームとしての成長を目指しています。

There are 11 members in the team, and in order to launch 2 to 4 sites per year, a project manager and 3 construction managers per site will lead the project from the start of construction to go live. Team members have various backgrounds ranging from mechanical and electrical engineering to architectural design, but through regular team meetings and on-site reviews, they share their knowledge and experience and engage in open discussions. By doing so, we aim to grow as a team while improving individual skills.

Basic Qualifications

• 開発、設計、品質管理分野などのエンジニアリングプロジェクトでの 3 年以上の経験、またはマテリアルハンドリング、生産設備などに関する同等の技術知識を持っていること。

• 社内の部門横断的なチームと関わり、社外のパートナーと調整した経験

• MS Office（Word、Excel、Power Point）の使用経験

• 日本語と英語の口頭および書面によるコミュニケーション能力（ビジネスレベル）

• 3+ years of experience in engineering project such as development, design, or quality management fields, or equivalent technical knowledge of material handling, production equipment, etc.

• Experience in engaging with internal cross-functional teams and coordinating external partners

• Experience using MS Excel, Power Point, Word

• Verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English (Business-Level).

Preferred Qualifications

• 大学学位、学士号 または工学（または科学/技術）の修士号

• 品質問題の原因分析、対策の実施、再発防止策を体系化した経験

• 10億円以上のプロジェクトの立案、管理、推進の経験

• 自発的に単独またはチーム単位で問題を解決まで導けること

• University Degree, B.S. or Master Degree in Engineering (or science/technology)

• Experience in analyzing the cause of quality problems, implementing countermeasures, and systematizing recurrence prevention measures

• Experience in devising, managing, and promoting projects of 1 billion yen or more

• Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently and in team settings

• Comfort working as both part of a team and/or entirely as an independent performer
