Amazon Sr. Business Development Manager, Consumables Food Service, B2B JP Consumables in Tokyo, Japan

Amazon.co.jp is looking for a business development manager who is a customer-centric, data driven and strategic thinking with a proven track record with driving new product launch and/or growth in a cross-functional environment.

Among Consumables B2B, Food Service business is one of the key growth programs which Amazon put focus on innovating business customers’ shopping experience world-wide.

The program is building a strategy to acquire highly potential customers in Food Service industry where e-commerce penetration is low as we see a large growth opportunity for improving customer experiences in purchasing products on Amazon.co.jp. The business environment of the industry has been changing, where customer purchasing options and methods also have been changing. We need to expand our selection/pricing/DEX/services in accordance with business customer needs.

This role leads the new project to drive the business growth on seller service in Consumables B2B including Food Service industry, working with product managers, account managers and JP AB team to bring global services/products in Japan, proposing and executing JP specific initiatives to better serve Japanese business customers’ needs and preference.

You will dive deep existing Amazon technologies to understand what can be leveraged and what you need to develop on your own, and create proposals with close collaboration with relevant stakeholders in Japan and WW. Specifically, it offers exciting opportunities to build new products and programs by closely collaborating across multiple countries and multiple function stakeholders including Program Managers, Cat lead, CMM, Seller service, Vendor Manager, Business Intelligence, Software Development, Finance, Legal, Supply chain and CS in both domestic and international teams.

A successful candidate needs to be a customer obsessed, think big, data and fact driven, have willingness to dive deep in areas you are not familiar with, and ability to make difficult tradeoffs when facing conflicts or ambiguity.

Key job responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Developing business strategy of business expansion by acquiring and developing 3P sellers, and driving key stakeholders like external partner companies, account managers, product manager, engineers, Legal, and Amazon Business.

  2. Leading 3P business of Cons B2B including Food Service industry to improve by working with Product Managers, JP Amazon Business team and seller service.

  3. Influencing and gaining alignments with relevant stakeholders in JP / the EU&US about the product strategy and achieve goals.

  4. Understanding technical complexity of existing Amazon software in depth in working with tech teams, and develop solutions to remove frictions and conflicts towards product launch.

  5. Writing working backwards documents on customer experience, requirement documents and business reports to ensure clear communication and coordination among internal stakeholders on goals and progress.

  6. Making right business decisions when facing multiple conflicts even with limited information to keep our customer experience bar high.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional or military experience

  • Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional groups to orchestrate and successfully complete deals

  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software

  • Experience with business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units

  • Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps
