Amazon Sr. Financial Analyst, JP Transportation Finance in Tokyo, Japan

Amazon Japan is looking for a strategic, dynamic, and self-motivated Sr. Financial Analyst to join Amazon Operations Finance headquartered in Tokyo. We welcome candidates from both within and outside Japan. The position is to partner with Amazon Japan Operations, and will be given significant responsibility from the start to drive both business and financial decisions. Amazon Operations cover very dynamic and fast-growing end-to-end supply chain processes from Inbound, Fulfillment Centers, Transportation to Last Mile (Amazon Logistics) across Japan, and this Sr. Financial Analyst position is expected to work closely with Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) and focus primarily on the middle mile (linehaul) logistics area, which is a critical pillar supporting Amazon's fast and reliable delivery network.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring exceptional controllership across our Amazon Transportation spending, including overseeing the monthly close process, ensuring proper controls are in place to protect the Company’s assets, and auditing data to ensure its accuracy

  • Monitoring and driving the performance of the Amazon Transportation functions, including overseeing preparing and reviewing daily and weekly operational and financial metrics, and using these metrics to drive continuous operational improvement

  • Championing technology and automation improvements for the finance function, including participating in the implementation of new operational tools

  • Continuously seeking out opportunities for delivery experience improvements and cost reduction, and partnering with operations leadership to implement the opportunities

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Business level of Japanese language skill (reading, writing, speaking)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information in an effective way

  • Proven ability to solve complex problems using data and metrics.

  • Proven ability to develop strategic relationships with business partners.

  • Superb attention to details and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos, etc.)

  • MBA or professional certification (CIMA/ACCA/Qualified Accounting certificate)

  • Previous experience in a logistics or manufacturing environment

  • Excited about working in a diverse group and contributing to an inclusive culture

  • Business level of English language skill (reading, writing, speaking) is preferred for this position
