What your role will be...

Associate Group Lead, Healthcare & Professional Banking

The Associate Group Lead Healthcare & Professional Banking is responsible to lead a team of SPP Solutions Managers in support of the sales team of the national Healthcare & Professional Banking Group. The officer is responsible to ensure sound administration of the credit portfolio, including the credit application process and ongoing account monitoring, plus general administration and accounting responsibilities. The officer will ensure delivery of premium levels of Professional Banking service consistent with Scotia Service and Complaint Resolution Standards.

What you will be doing...

  • Lead and develop a team of Solutions Managers

  • Recognizing and rewarding success and managing non performance

  • Developing and obtaining agreement on individual Employee Development Plans

  • Recruiting, hiring and promoting support team members in accordance with Bank standards

  • Support the Director and Senior Manager(s) Sales by:

  • Ensuring applications are completed thoroughly and in a timely manner

  • Ensuring credit reviews are completed in a timely and sufficiently detailed fashion

  • Ensuring applications are authorized, renewed or declined within standard Bank policies and authorized limits

  • Providing direction, guidance and support to sales team, resolving issues/negotiating compromises

  • Adhering to a Service Level Agreement for application and adjudication process with internal adjudication partners

  • Liaising with internal adjudication partners to ensure credit application and adjudication process is efficient and adheres to Service Level Agreement.

  • Ensuring accounts adhere to the conditions of authorization

  • Identifying and resolving deviations from the conditions of authorization

  • Identifying and taking appropriate action on deteriorating and/or unsatisfactory trends affecting the loan portfolio

  • Spotting additional sales opportunities and referring to the Senior Manager Sales

  • Manage and minimize the Bank’s exposure to risk by:

  • Adhering to and ensuring team members’ compliance with regulatory activities and guidelines including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti Terrorist Financing, FCAD, Know Your Customer, CDIC, Occupational Health & Safety

  • Ensuring strict adherence to Bank security procedures, including assigned authorities and limits

  • Escalating fraudulent activities, unusual occurrences, issues/deficiencies/trends to Branch Manager and/or applicable Shared Services Department as appropriate

What you need to succeed...

  • Detailed knowledge of the Bank’s Small Business products, services and sales processes and a good working knowledge of Retail Payments & Investment products

  • Strong credit underwriting skills

  • Strong leadership skills, experience with coaching and mentoring others

  • The ability to build and maintain key relationships is essential, along with the ability to influence and persuade others.

  • Expert knowledge of the Bank’s Small Business selling approach, Small Business selling tools and calculators and Branch Resource Centre for Business

  • Tactical planning, implementation, and organization skills

  • Proven communication skills (verbal and written)

  • University Degree or work equivalency

Working Conditions: Work in a hybrid and standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Office location in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
