What you’ll be doing

In this role you’ll provide leadership, insight and proactive control advice to management and stakeholders on control weaknesses, efficiencies and emerging risks to the bank by participating in the planning, execution and reporting of audits within the Personal and Business Banking portfolio.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Audit execution – Assess key business risks and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of related processes and controls; identify and communicate internal control weaknesses and inefficiencies to business line management. Advise management and business partners of best practices and promote compliance with CIBC policies and procedures, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Teamwork facilitation – Work collaboratively with audit management and other audit team members to plan and execute risk-based audits, report audit results and perform continuous monitoring of management’s control environment. Participate on internal projects to improve and simplify audit processes.

  • Project management - Effectively manage multiple audits assignments at different stages of the audit cycle and complete required tasks on a timely basis. Communicate regularly with team and manager to provide updates on progress.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in planning & executing audits. You have comprehensive knowledge of auditing practices, accounting standards, regulatory requirements and Risk Management principles and knowledge of Retail Banking within a large financial institution. It is an asset if you possess a Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and a professional designation (e.g. CPA, MBA, CIA, FRM, CRMA) or equivalent business experience.
