What you’ll be doing

The Director, Enterprise Communications, is responsible for strategic communications planning, execution and measurement to support key internal communications initiatives, managing a strategic and coordinated approach across enterprise-wide communications platforms. This role provides strategic communications advice and support, developing and implementing corporate communication strategies aligned to CIBC’s business strategy.

How you’ll succeed

  • Build and execute on communication strategies in support of key enterprise communications to employees.

  • Work closely with key partners and stakeholders across the bank to develop and execute communication strategies and plans, and various leader and team events (virtual and in-person) that foster a solid understanding of the bank’s purpose and strategic direction.

  • Craft compelling key enterprise messaging for internal audiences , providing leadership and guidance to CIBC’s Communications & Public Affairs (C&PA) team on how to incorporate these messages into their communications plans and deliverables.

  • Create templates, resources, and tools to help C&PA align their communications with the bank’s strategy and purpose.

  • Leverage best practices and solutions to enhance enterprise communications and create a positive and interactive employee experience.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the C&PA team and with key partners.

  • Establish and build strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders across the bank, including senior leaders.

  • Lead and manage a team of internal communications professionals through coaching, mentoring and guidance to deliver high-quality communications that reinforce the bank’s strategy and purpose.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of internal communications processes, tools and channels.

  • Monitor and measure the impact of internal communications activities and provide recommendations for improvement.

Who you are

  • Progressive experience in the field of internal communications, including principles, practices and processes.

  • Well-developed knowledge of communications principles, along with communications writing and presentation development skills.

  • You can demonstrate experience in project management.

  • Well-developed problem identification and communication principles to develop and implement effective communication strategies.

  • You can demonstrate experience with in-depth advisory and consultative skills.

  • Well-developed ability to develop creative solutions that address difficult or complex issues and to provide sound advice and guidance to senior level executives.

  • Well-developed ability to function as a key consultant to senior management and division heads and to work collaboratively with business leaders in the delivery of consistent, aligned communications strategies.

  • Senior-level experience in employee communications and change management.

  • You have a degree in Business/Journalism/Communications, or equivalent or relevant area or specialty.
