Position Overview

The NMEM will lead the development and execution of the National Medical Education Strategic Plan for our rare disease and cardiovascular health portfolios. The NMEM is an integral leader on cross-functional teams and will work closely with the Medical Directors in the relevant therapeutic areas (TA) to collaborate on medical strategy.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development of the National Medical Education Strategic Plan per TA, including conducting needs assessments, setting health care professional (HCP) learning objectives based on needs, and calendarization in alignment with the Medical Director and internal SOPs

  • Derive national insights on HCP educational gaps and learning needs, and contextualize regionally

  • Oversee the development of educational assets based on identified unmet educational needs, define and validate the national speaker bureau(s), and identify faculty for content development

  • Inform the national and international conference strategy

  • Measure and review the impact of Medical Education activities, provide insight analyses, and drive quality improvement

  • Responsible for TA budget(s) for Medical Education

Other Responsibilities

  • Understand the needs of the TA(s) and identify opportunities for education

  • Track KPIs to drive continuous improvement of content and offerings

  • Stay up-to-date on advances in medical education, technologies, tools, and industry trends to drive innovation and support application of adult learning principles

  • Ongoing coordination, collaboration, and partnership with multiple functions, including Health Care Compliance, Sales, Learning & Development, Marketing and Access to effectively implement key activities and support broader business goals

  • This role requires 25–30% domestic and/or international travel

Qualifications

Education:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree is required or equivalent experience, preferably in medical education or related health sciences field; an advanced medical or science degree is preferred

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry or medical education experience with advanced degree is required or minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry or medical education experience required

  • Expert knowledge of pharmaceutical regulated standards (IMC Code of Ethical Practices, ICH GCP, cGMPs, and/or Pharmacovigiliance standards) and experience working with Health Care Compliance functions are required

  • Knowledge of medical education field and adult learning theory is required

  • Strong people management, issue resolution skills, and prioritization skills are required

  • Strong communication and collaboration skill set with ability to showcase leadership of cross-functional project team members are required

  • Proficiency in metrics, reporting, and communicating complex information effectively is required

  • Experience in project management and continuous quality improvement processes is required

  • Superior attention to detail and organizational skills are required

  • Ability to work in team and matrix environment is required

  • Understanding of agile ways of working and change management/adoption is required

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working in rare disease and cardiovascular health is an asset

  • Prior experience in Medical Education

  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
