Department Overview

Model Management & Analytics (MMA) is committed to providing quality credit risk solutions within the retail environment. MMA's goal is to meet and exceed the needs of clients through the optimal use of leading-edge risk assessment practices and teamwork.

The Modeling Implementation Team (MIT) is part of the Model Management & Analytics (MMA) group within MRMD and is responsible for model implementation, on-going operational model updates/optimization, and model execution for Canadian and Retail and Small Business Banking product portfolios. As part of our mandate, we also support regulatory programs such as RWA, IFRS9, Stress Testing etc.

Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate seeking to advance their understanding of Retail Credit Risk areas. Reporting to the Model Implementation Manager, the position also works closely with Retail Risk Model Development, Reporting and Analysis teams, and with external business partners. This opportunity has the following key accountabilities:

  • Contribute to projects including the SAS Grid to SAS MLE conversion and Re-platforming

  • Contribute to the maintenance of the operational processes for model scoring

  • Provide programming support to incorporate the changes resulted from periodic model updates and operational enhancements

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new models to support on-going initiatives related to the Canadian and US Retail and Small Business Banking portfolios

  • Collaborate with the Retail Risk Model Development and the Reporting and Analysis teams to perform various impact estimation for new model implementations

  • Work proactively and effectively with the Retail Risk Management and various technology groups to gather requirements for model implementation

  • Create and maintain operational and data lineage documentation basing on updates from model implementation

  • Support the Model Implementation Team’s and MMA management in internal and external audit reviews and compliance attestations

Job Requirements

  • An independent contributor with strong critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Capable of tackling complex problems with innovative approaches

  • Strong working knowledge and three or more years of extensive hands-on experience using SQL SAS in the context of data manipulation, data mining, and statistical analysis

  • Capable of adapting to a fast-paced environment and a quick learner

  • Experienced working with UNIX and comfortable working from the command line

  • Experienced with writing and eliciting requirements

  • Experience working in both operational and project environments

  • Good understanding of job automation and optimization

  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to independently identify, debug, and solve problems in an effective and timely manner

  • Familiarity with TD's retail business and products

  • Good interpersonal skills and able to build and maintain productive working relationships with various partners across the Bank and on different levels of organization.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities while ensuring that critical deadlines are met

  • Experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, SAS Studio and DB2 databases would be an asset

  • Project management experience would be an asset

  • Knowledge of Regular Expression, Perl, Python, R, JSON, XML, CA7, JCL, REST API's, Confluence, and JIRA would be an asset

  • Understanding of basic retail credit risk drivers would be an asset

  • Understanding of regulatory programs such as BCAR and IFRS9 would be an asset

Education and Accreditation:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or related fields/experience

  • SAS certification would be considered assets
