Department Overview:

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is responsible for building organizational capability in managing risk on a more integrated and comprehensive basis for the organization and for promoting a strong risk culture within TD. The team is accountable for the development and implementation of an enterprise risk management strategy, governance, policies and practices, reporting and operating frameworks, and operations associated with the Risk Management function.

TD applies the “Three Lines of Defence” model to risk management as defined in the Enterprise Risk Framework. As part of the second line of defence, the ERM team assures the appropriate design, implementation, and/or execution of (applicable components of) the TD risk management framework. ERM collaborates with a broad network of business and risk management practitioners and other corporate functions in all jurisdictions where the Bank has business activities.

Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is responsible for the implementation and execution of Enterprise Risk Governance programs, including representing ERM on new initiatives across Risk Management. The Senior Manager, ERM will ensure the programs and processes are aligned and integrated with the Enterprise Risk Framework and other relevant frameworks.

The Senior Manager, ERM accountable to:

  • Develop Risk enterprise-wide frameworks, policies, standards, procedures in coordination with management in line with TD's Risk Program. This includes oversight and monitoring to assess adherence to these requirements.

  • Lead risk management initiatives from a second line of defense lens and provide leadership in reviewing relevant frameworks and policies.

  • Ensure alignment to existing and future regulatory requirements, interpreting, and monitoring changes to relevant regulations where ERM has primary oversight accountabilities.

  • Plan and execute on strategic activities, review, and communicate results, and adjust tactics accordingly.

  • Supports the ERM team by contributing to the strategic direction, advancing ERM owned frameworks and policies and leading the development and implementation of new initiatives and enhancements of governance activities.

  • The scope of these activities is enterprise-wide and includes stakeholders across Risk Management, other Corporate Functions, and all business segments, including the US.

  • Provides leadership support to the VP, ERM for supporting activities during peak periods across other ERM areas when required.

  • Identifies, mitigates and reports on risk issues per enterprise policies / guidelines and ensures appropriate escalation processes are followed.

  • Works closely with key business leaders and reports to optimize TDBG’s resources and leverage TD’s operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale.

Job Requirements:

  • Provide oversight on key regulatory and governance activities through industry and enterprise knowledge, recognizing emerging trends and identifying opportunities to strengthen risk governance and culture.

  • Ability to manage, influence and leverage a multitude of stakeholders concurrently.

  • High level of accountability and organizational skills, self-motivated, adept at managing change and priorities with an ability to work under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to conduct analysis and communicate findings and/or results to Senior Management.

  • Superior impact and influence skills coupled with the ability to navigate a complex matrix organization, and the ability to instinctively engage others to achieve positive business outcomes.

  • Sound financial acumen, specifically exceptional research, and analytical skills – ability to absorb information on a variety of often complex issues (financial and non-financial) and provide insights on key issues.

  • Excellent presentation, organization, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills to communicate complex information clearly to employees and management throughout the Bank.
