Insight Global Sr. Manager, Accounting Policy & Reporting in Toronto, Ontario

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Sr. Manager of Accounting Policy & Reporting to join one of Canada's top electric utilities companies on a fulltime basis. In this role, you will support the Director (External Reporting & Accounting Policy) and Vice President (Business Planning & Reporting) to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (US GAAP and IFRS), financial reporting, and disclosure requirements as set out by securities commissions or contractual requirements. This position will oversee the finalization of the company's annual and quarterly external and statutory financial reports and act as an internal subject matter expert, with the Shareholder (Province) and with external bodies such as Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), CICA, IASB, and FASB with respect to reporting requirements and standards and emerging technical accounting issues. You will also lead/participate in presenting to senior and executive leadership on process, accounting, and disclosure matters as they arise. Effective business partnering and communication skills are key attributes for success in this role.

Skills and Requirements

6+ years of experience as a CPA, CA, or International CPA in good standing of an international accounting body recognized in Canada (e.g., US CPA, CA/ACCA)

 4+ years of experience with public company SEDAR or SEC reporting and technical accounting

 University degree (ideally, in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting) or equivalent

 Financial reporting process expertise, including preparation and review of financial statements, MD&A, and disclosures under US GAAP or IFRS

 Strong understanding of internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR) and experience implementing and monitoring control frameworks

 Demonstrated ability to effectively develop, engage, and supervise finance staff

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to senior executives and non-finance stakeholders

 Proven experience in building and maintaining relationships with external auditors and other key stakeholders

 Proficiency in financial reporting software and systems, as well as advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting Utilities, power, extractive, construction, or capital-intensive industry experience

 Exposure to public sector accounting and rate regulated entity accounting experience

 "Big 4" public accounting firm experience null
