Responsible for developing a global sourcing strategy for the friction material commodity that has a detailed plan for each business segment and product life cycle within the commodity as well as a short and long-term plan for each supplier. Following the development of the strategy, responsible for implementing the purchasing initiatives and activities for the friction commodity in accordance with the strategic business requirements set forth by Worldwide Procurement Management. Develop global sourcing strategies and act as a global resource for the commodity. Responsible for understanding global capacity for the commodity and maintain the data base including bid list, scout, performance data. Identify, manage and own global supplier relationships and provide assistance to regional buying teams. Facilitate cross-regional, cross-business unit communications, and collaboratively set and achieve global commodity cost reduction goals. Lead and support Global Request for Quote (RFQ) efforts to ensure the most competitive cost, including utilizing purchasing functional system to support the RFQ process and establish a Total Cost of Ownership comparison of suppliers based on the category strategy. Develop sourcing and purchasing strategies aimed at reducing cost, minimizing risk, and optimizing business processes. Determine and help businesses manage demand and supplier capacity. Promote alignment of purchasing strategy with business unit and supply chain goals in mind. Validate sourcing and contract activities of sourcing teams. Establish and control product and service costs using functional tools to deliver and track product and services at competitive prices. Ensure competitiveness of our products in our markets while preserving desired margins. Utilize Total Cost Opportunity (TCO) model methodology. Establish category strategy using Total Value Performance (TVP) approach and manage the risk and inclusion of diverse suppliers. Establish purchasing target process and oversee teams' delivery against those targets. Avoid supplier engagement that may compromise supplier sourcing, selection and management processes and seek counsel to ensure compliance. Responsible for negotiating and executing Long Term Agreements with strategic partner suppliers. Define and evaluate a collaborative relationship with a category's key/strategic suppliers to deliver value to the company and the supplier.
