We are seeking highly qualified candidates for the following opportunity.
New Model Equipment Engineer
Position Summary: Work with other engineers and production groups to develop manufacturing process plans for new production models. Create equipment specifications from the process plans and select vendors to develop the equipment. Support APQP activities for new models and lead equipment development, installation, and debugging. Primary equipment includes resistance welding machines, MIG welding processes, and assembly processes - all involving high levels of robotics and automation.
Other duties may include projects on existing equipment to improve efficiency or quality, moving existing equipment to improve plant efficiency, supporting sales and R&D teams, and other tasks as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work with mass production teams, R&D, parent, and other global factories, and/or other departments to develop manufacturing process plans and equipment installation plans.
- Develop specifications for automated welding and assembly equipment and ensure the machines are built to those specifications.
- Ensure the quality and performance of new equipment by working with foreign and domestic equipment manufacturers and integrators.
- Install, review, debug, and confirm equipment.
- Utilize new manufacturing technologies to enhance productivity and quality of new and current equipment.
- Provide regular updates to management, customers, and project coordination.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Industrial, Welding or related field
- Experience in high-volume automotive manufacturing processes highly preferred.
- Previous experience in project management highly preferred.
- Automation and Controls experience highly preferred. (Robotics, PLCs/HMIs, industrial sensors, vision systems, etc.)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
- Able to travel and work flexible hours.
Work Environment:
- Plant and office environment.
- Regularly exposed to dust, grease/oil, odors, noise, smoke, etc.
F&P America Manufacturing offers competitive salaries and overtime, at straight-time, after 50 hours per week. Additional eligible pay includes bonus potential.
