Description The Coding Consultant is a functional member of Central Business Services at SPD. The Consultant is seen as a senior level coding professional and provides knowledge, experience and mentorship to the team as well as other staff in the organization. Required Qualifications: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders upon hire. Or National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. 4 years of ICD-9-CM and CPT coding experience performing clinic and hospital based inpatient and outpatient coding for professional billing. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent educ/experience. Equivalent years experience or completion of a certified coding program and 4-5 years related experience.
