Boeing's Phantom Works (PW) Space group is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Advanced Systems Development Systems Architecture group in Tukwila, WA . As the successful candidate, you will manage employees performing activities with multiple technical/engineering disciplines. You must be willing to stretch beyond your comfort zone and to take intelligent risks to achieve objectives. The position is best suited to individuals who are self-starters, highly motivated, work well in fast paced multi-disciplinary team environments, and are able to provide frequent management decisions for the best interest of the business.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports as well as provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.

  • Proposal management and development and must have a strong understanding of the Government System Acquisition Process as well as Boeing’s Integrated Business Acquisition Process.

  • Program oversight and management of allocated New Business Funds (B&P, IR&D) supporting business opportunities.

  • Leads efforts to define and execute implementation plans, as well as negotiate and build consensus across a diverse team of assigned personnel.

  • Forecasts resource needs for the Advanced Systems Development Systems Architecture group and obtains and manages personnel, facilities, services, equipment, and tools to meet project and daily operating requirements.

  • Provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.

  • Coaches, counsels, mentors, motivates, and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities.

  • Ensures mission area goals and objectives align with the PW culture and company vision/strategy and creates competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering or of leadership experience in a space related field.

  • 3+ years of management experience in Engineering and/or Program Management.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 14+ years of related experience.

  • 5+ years management experience in Engineering and/or Program Management leadership positions.

  • Design and development experience on rapid development or prototyping, ideally with space systems.

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
