Job Title: Special Assets Officer

Summary:

As a Special Assets Officer, you will be responsible for managing distressed assets within our organization's portfolio. Your primary focus will be on mitigating risk and maximizing recovery through strategic planning, negotiation, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This role requires a keen understanding of financial analysis, legal compliance, and asset management principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Asset Evaluation: Assess the financial health and viability of distressed assets through thorough analysis of financial statements, market trends, and risk factors.

  • Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement strategies to minimize financial losses and maximize recovery on distressed assets, including restructuring, refinancing, or liquidation options.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments such as legal, risk management, and finance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

  • Negotiation: Negotiate with borrowers, creditors, and external agencies to reach mutually beneficial agreements for the resolution of distressed assets.

  • Portfolio Management: Monitor and manage a portfolio of distressed assets, tracking performance, identifying trends, and making recommendations for action as necessary.

  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on the status of distressed assets, including financial analysis, recovery projections, and risk assessments, for presentation to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies governing the management of distressed assets.

  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including borrowers, creditors, legal counsel, and regulatory agencies.

    Education And/Or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA, MBA) preferred.

  • Proven experience in asset management, credit analysis, or a related field, with a focus on distressed assets preferred.

  • Strong financial analysis skills, including proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and risk assessment.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.

  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, with a demonstrated ability to assess complex situations and develop creative solutions.

  • Solid understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks related to distressed asset management.

  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Experience with Small Business Administration & USDA guarantees preferred.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Detail-oriented and able to work under pressure of deadlines

    Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Sitting for long periods.
