Job Summary
Tuskegee University Center for Biomedical Research (CBR) is seeking multi-talented applicants for its Research Operations Specialist position. The Research Operations Specialist will play a pivotal role in providing administrative and programmatic support for theCBRAdministrative Core, managerial support for the day-to-day functioning of theCBRResearch Core Laboratories, and grant management support (pre- and post-award) for theCBRscientists. This multi-faceted position demands exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a diverse range of responsibilities.
Essential Job Duties
1 . Research Cores Coordinator/Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operation and scheduling of research core facilities within theCBR.
- Collaborate with core facility staff to ensure equipment is properly maintained and available for researchers.
- Manage core facility service user access, training, and billing processes.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for core facility operations.
- Assist researchers in accessing and utilizing core facilities effectively.
- Grants Specialist Responsibilities:
- Assist biomedical scientists in identifying funding opportunities and preparing grant applications.
- Provide pre- and post-award administration of all research grants from theCBR(grants fromCBRpersonnel andCBRassociated personnel).
- Provide guidance on grant proposal development, including budget preparation and compliance with grant requirements.
- Monitor grant submission deadlines and ensure timely submission of applications.
- Submit, track and report on grant funding status, and assist in grant reporting requirements.
- Provide fiscal management of grants and other funds within theCBR.
- Serve as a liaison between the Office of Sponsored Programs and theCBRand University personnel.
- Stay updated on funding trends and opportunities in the biomedical research field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a related field (Masters or advanced degree in business preferred).
- Proven experience in administrative support, project management, and grants administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software.
- Knowledge of research funding agencies and sources associated with the biomedical field is a plus.
