The Product Development Engineer works as a member of the Furnace Engineering Team to develop new indoor gas furnaces. The specific responsibilities will include design of furnace systems and key subsystems.

Where is the work:

This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week. Location: Tyler, Texas

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

  • Participation as an active member of the product development team.

  • Gas furnace and/or subsystem development.

  • Work with design engineers to develop accurate models for analysis using Pro/ENGINEER.

  • Scoping and reviewing CFD and FEA analysis.

  • Material and component specification.

  • Coordination and scheduling of prototype builds and evaluation.

  • Creating & executing test plans (DVP&R) with and without the assistance of RS HVAC lab technicians.

  • Development, validation, reliability and field testing.

  • Agency compliance testing and listings (UL, CSA, ETL).

  • Engineering data/unit attribute creation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with at least 2 years of New Product Development Experience required. 3 – 5 years of experience preferred.

  • Combustion or HVAC system design or related experience is a plus.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Aptitude for mechanical/electrical design, development and testing.

  • Results-oriented individual with an emphasis placed on achieving overall team performance.

  • Problem assessment and problem solving skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Works effectively in an open consensus oriented team environment.

  • Conflict management skills.

  • Gas furnace development experience a plus.

  • Knowledge and understanding of ANSI Z21.47 Standard and agency testing a plus.

  • Heat exchanger and/or combustion subsystem analysis and design experience a plus.

  • Airflow system design and testing experience a plus.

  • Temperature and pressure switches, flame sensor and igniter experience a plus.

  • Electrical wiring and/or controls experience a plus.

  • Experience with solid modeling design package (Pro/ENGINEER) a plus.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Lean Expert a plus.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $ 70,000-120,000

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
