NBCUniversal is seeking a lawyer with experience advising on and negotiating agreements involving cutting-edge technologies to join our IP Group’s Innovation, Technology and Strategy team.  The role will focus on transactions, guidance and risk assessments involving artificial intelligence, machine learning and other new technologies as needed. This is a great opportunity to work on complex and evolving legal frameworks in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the business, technical and creative teams to provide legal support and guidance on innovation technology-related matters

  • Provide frontline assistance to business clients and internal legal teams in tackling emerging issues as applied to their deployment and use of AI and machine learning tools

  • Structure, draft, negotiate and review agreements related to our company’s use of innovation technologies, with an emphasis on generative AI and machine learning, metaverse applications and new entertainment formats

  • Support and structure partnerships with AI-related service providers and platforms

  • Advise business unit lawyers on IP-related elements of transactions involving innovation technologies

  • Develop training for legal, business and technical clients on AI legal issues

  • Develop and take ownership of updates to knowledge resources for new technology applications

Required Qualifications: 

  • A law degree from an accredited institution and at least 8 years of experience in transactional law practice, with significant experience in the entertainment or technology sectors preferred

  • Must be a member in good standing of a State Bar

  • Strong knowledge of and interest in AI and its applications, and the legal and regulatory challenges it presents for entertainment companies

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

  • This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary range: $200,000 - $280,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible)
