Senior Academic Counselor - Athletics (University, MS). Duties: Provide academic counseling and support for academically at-risk student-athletes; monitor the academic progress of student-athletes from matriculation to graduation; assist with coordination of assigned programs; oversee assigned academic counselors, providing supervision, training, oversight and guidance. Requirements: Master's in Sports Management, or a related field. Two year's experience in athletic academic advising or counseling role; including significant experience in each: reading and interpreting degree sheets and audits; planning and implementing academic support plans for at-risk students; building relationships with student-athletes and coaching staffs; working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and academic abilities; tracking and compiling academic information; preparing and presenting reports to coaches and administrators; student information management systems; and compliance with Federal Educational Rights Privacy Act (FERPA).
