JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Housing Operations, a division of Auxiliary & Business Services (A&BS), is excited to welcome candidates for the position of Manager. This position supports the vision and mission of the housing operations by overseeing the daily activities of an assigned set of buildings within a housing area including the direction of employees and initiation of all related actions to ensure effective operations, efficient use of appropriate resources, and a focus on excellence in Custodial, Maintenance, Service, Safety, and Teamwork.

This position is an on-campus, non-telecommuting/remote position.

Working with a diverse workforce, delivering a well-maintained, clean, safe, and secure living experience for students and guests, assisting with an operational area supporting at least 60 technical service employees in a variety of housing options for over 4,000 students with direction supervision of 8-15 employees in 3-4 buildings with 600-1,000 residents. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Direct daily activities of staff and technical service employees to ensure best operational practices are followed in an effective manner and in accordance with accepted housekeeping and maintenance standards. Ensure safe working conditions are maintained in the area. With the Assistant Director, formulation of plans and establishment of daily work schedules for employees along with planning and scheduling of work during peak time periods such as Semester Break, Spring Break, and Summer.

  • Inspect residential areas and observe employee performance to insure conformity with standards and practices. Correct deviations and propose methods for improvement.

  • Identify maintenance issues, initiate projects and work requests, and oversee implementation of corrective action by internal maintenance staff and contractors.

  • Oversee and conduct annual performance evaluations for all s technical service employees in the area. Counsel employees on job performance, discipline, grievances, accident reports, incident reports, and related matters.

  • Maintain proper standards for safety and accident prevention. Complete regular safety inspections of operational areas. Assist with accident investigations, initiate and direct corrective action, and provide safety reports as needed. Monitor life safety and security systems to ensure effective operation. Liaison with University Police, as necessary.

  • Monitor budget and monthly operating statements to ensure fulfillment of budgetary goals and established projections.

  • As a designated Essential Employee, prepare for and respond to critical incidents to ensure continuity of operations for housing residents and guests. Assume on-call responsibilities and work, as assigned, for a residential housing area in the evenings, nights, weekends, break periods, and holidays. This is a 100% on-site position; telecommuting is not typical.

It is essential that the candidate have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to use good judgment when dealing with sensitive and confidential information, ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines and demonstrate a genuine appreciation for working with diverse audiences in a team environment. The successful candidate must have excellent skills in utilizing Microsoft Office (O365) programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a hospitality or business-related discipline

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • APPA credential of Educational Facilities Professional (EFP) or Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) preferred but not required.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
