JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University is seeking a talented, ambitious, and hard-working Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the field of advanced manufacturing in theSHAPE Lab group. Job Duties:
Develop digital manufacturing technology through education, research and development efforts
Document efforts in 3D sand-printing, additive manufacturing, AR/VR, and characterization workflow
Generate computational codes (Python, Unity, C, C++) to integrate design with the advanced manufacturing digital workflow Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, or related fields and significant priorresearch experience in manufacturing processes
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field and be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire
Strong prior experience in advanced manufacturing methods - in particular additive manufacturing, binder jetting, metallurgy, metal casting, mechanical testing and machining methods - is required, experience with manufacturing education outreach and technical communication is a major asset
Additional Information: We also look for good oral and written communication skill; ability to work both independently and in a team environment; proficiency with Python, C, C++, Unity, Fortan or other relevant coding methods. This is a term position funded for one year from date of hire with a good possibility of re-funding. This position will be located at Penn State in University Park.
