    Position Summary:

    Linen service workers are responsible for providing safe and clean linen for patients, and scrub suits and uniforms for designated hospital employees. Linen service workers will perform linen distribution functions in accordance with standard procedures of the Linen Service Department and in accordance with hospital objectives and its mission.

    Essential Functions:

  • Follows established standards and maintains quality work while being self-managed.* Delivers clean exchange carts on time, as dictated by established schedule.* Documents linen tracking form. Times are recorded when linen cart is exchanged.* Removes rejected linen daily from units and sent back to plant for evaluation, and re-wash utilization reports are accurately filled out.* Counts and Credits returned linen to units' usage report.* Exchanges carts are audited and linen is counted and inspected prior to delivering it to the unit. All linen pars must be filled and an acceptable substitution is stock in place of missing item.

  • Performs linen service functions following established methods.* Collects soiled linen from designated areas and deliver to soiled linen holding areas using proper procedures and protective apparel.* Counts all shelf stock areas and fill linen up to par levels.* Checks all messages on telephone.* Fills telephone orders and deliver to customers within 30 minutes of request.* Delivers exchange carts with clean linen to user areas.* Removes used linen carts to appropriate holding area.* Delivers linen orders to areas upon request (Hospital, Atrium, PMP, and GOMP)* Responds to pages in a timely manner.* Completes any and all tasks, requests as assigned by lead.

  • Possesses knowledge of job requirements and maintains ability to make decisions.* Adjusts pars based on census demands.* Contacts Director of Support Services when new services items are needed* Communicates to units if exchange cart is "short" items.* Participates in ongoing, in-service education sessions and other related training to increase personal knowledge of specific work-related issues.* Participates in one process improvement that reduces linen usage per year.

  • Observes safety procedures* Uses chemicals safely and according to label instructions.* Wears proper personal protection equipment when using chemicals as indicated on the product label.* Follows assigned duties for life safety and emergency preparedness (e.g., fire, disaster, etc.) procedures.* Complies with incident reporting procedures that involve property, occupational illness, patient, personnel, or visitor injury.* Follows proper infection control procedures when handling and transporting soiled linen.
