We are looking for a Technical Service Specialist to join our Automotive Refinish team for Salt Lake City, Utah, Idaho and Montana!

BASF’s Coatings division is a global expert in the development, production and marketing of innovative and sustainable automotive OEM and refinish coatings, decorative paints as well as applied surface treatments for metal, plastic and glass substrates in a wide range of industries. This portfolio is supplemented by "Beyond Paint Solutions", which enable new applications with innovative surfaces.

You will work with some of the largest Body Shop and Distribution organizations in the market through paint application process development, correct application of products through teaching & hands on demonstrations and helping the sales team convert new business. You will work closely with the sales team to make sure our distribution partners are properly trained and can effectively sell and position our product offerings against competitive product lines. In addition, you will work with the Business Development and Sales team to gain business and ensure identified Body Shop KPI’s are achieved.

As a Technical Service Specialist - Utah, Idaho, Montana, you create chemistry by...

  • Being responsible for the technical success of BASF’s automotive refinish products, in the Salt Lake City, Utah, Idaho and Montana markets.

  • Working on coating technologies including solvent & water borne base coat/clear coat systems, OEM paint approval process, new product and process development at the field level and affect positive financial impact through product usage and application training.

  • Training and developing our Body Shop and Distribution customers, you will make process improvement recommendations that can be highly valuable to end users.

  • Leading new product and customer demonstrations and proficient in product application, selling and implementing new products, and generating a positive experience with BASF-branded products.

  • Participating in the technical aspects of the sales process.

  • Leading customer training to ensure BASF product proficiencies and product conversions of new BASF customers.

  • Working with the BASF team to help meet and exceed new business and financial targets.

  • Adding value to our customers through root cause analysis, trouble-shooting technical applications, and color match issues.

If you have...

  • HS Diploma (or equivalent) coupled with relevant experience

  • at least 7 + years of industry experience

  • Strong understanding of competitive products and tools

  • Proficient with BASF’s current Automotive Refinish products and technology tools (a plus)

  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools to lead presentations focused on introducing new products to the market and supporting a better understanding of BASF-branded products.

  • CRM expertise is a plus.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $75,000 - $94,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
