Job DescriptionOverviewPepsiCo, a leader in the food and beverage industry, has an opening for an Associate Principal Engineer in the R&D Technical Insights, Digital Solutions and Compliance organization. The candidate must have superb organizational, communication, and analytical skills. We are looking for someone who has sound judgment, strong multitasking abilities and the motivation and drive to help support the business.This position will support the corporate Food Safety Quality Assurance group for PepsiCo’s North America Beverage R&D TDC organization. The candidate will assist in implementation of PepsiCo’s Food Safety & Quality metrics and standards through successful commercialization of new products/processes/packages that deliver an enhanced consumer experience and provides PepsiCo a competitive advantage in the marketplace. ResponsibilitiesThe candidate will be responsible to work cross functionally with R&D, Global Procurement, Supply Chain & Operations to drive conformance to packaging specifications that elevate & sustain superior finished product food safety and quality throughout the supply chain. Work with cross-functional teams to create accurate timelines, clear success criteria and to meet technical stage gate requirements. The identified individual will work closely with his/her manager to collaborate and coordinate with a wide array of stakeholders (Product or Package Development, Supply Chain, Food Safety Center of Excellence, Procurement, Engineering, Commercialization, and Quality Control). This will ensure PepsiCo will maintain standard, comprehensive, and systematic processes within Corporate R&D, North America Beverage R&D, and across the supply chain that are recognized as critical to success in this space.Ideal candidate will be a packaging professional, process engineer or food safety professional with extensive quality, food safety and packaging experience (in practice or in function).,The selected candidate will assist in the successful commercialization of new products, processes and packages. Candidate will assure finished goods are safe, stable, legal and are launched on time and meet design specifications.Key Responsibilities:* Attend cross-functional R&D technical team, supply chain integration, and Technical Stage Gate meetings and provide aligned Food Safety Quality Assurance feedback and point of view. Support and ensure that project teams are meeting all mandatory requirements going through the Stage Gate process from Ideation through Execution.”* Attend Technical Stage Gate meetings and provide aligned Food Safety Quality Assurance feedback and point of view. Support and ensure that project teams are meeting all mandatory requirements going through the Stage Gate process from Ideation through Execution.* Develop and deliver subject matter expertise across all existing and new beverage platforms such as carbonated cold fill, still beverages, fountain, tunnel pasteurize, hot fill, bottled water, high acid aseptic ESL, low acid aseptic ESL, and retort* Conduct Food Safety Risk Assessments and determine mitigation strategies* Write and execute product and packaging qualification protocols* Track quality performance through the entire supply chain to identify opportunities for quality improvement and lead the company to achieve them* Support troubleshooting of packaging quality issues at vendors & plants.* Support change-management and process improvement as an R&D Food Safety & Quality Champion.* Utilize Quality Tools such as RQL, AQL, Six Sigma, FMEA’s and Risk Assessments to facilitate development activities, identify potential issues/risks and formulate mitigation steps prior to commercialization.* Support the development and implementation of quality systems including Manufacturing Control Plans and supporting Food Safety and Quality documents associated with new launches and technology initiatives.* Define/plan/execute Food Safety Quality Assurance programs to meet the short and long-term strategic needs of the business.Compensation and Benefits:* The expected compensation range for this position is between $85,200 - $142,650 based on a full-time schedule.* Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.* Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 10% of annual salary paid out annually.* Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.In addition to salary, PepsiCo offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees and their families, subject to elections and eligibility: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Health and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Insurance (Accident, Group Legal, Life), Defined Contribution Retirement Plan.Qualifications* Bachelor of Science with minimum 5 years demonstrated success in Food Safety and/or Quality Assurance, Operations and/or R&D/technical background. Packaging professional a plus.Six Sigma experience would be a plus* Knowledge and experience in beverage processes including products, packaging and process equipment.* Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, and audit practices.
