WSP USA Vice President, Electrical Engineering in Valhalla, New York

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Vice President, Electrical Engineer for our New York, NY office. The following locations will also be considered: Newark, NJ; and Valhalla, NY. Be involved in projects with our Transit and Rail Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

Provides leadership within a sector of organization to ensure electrical engineering subject matter, technical deliverables, infrastructure projects and programs are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry and company standards for design, safety, and functionality. Responsible for SME innovation and administration, ensuring corporate compliance with all Local, State, and Federal engineering, construction, and safety regulations, and providing pragmatic direction to address current and future challenges in a rapidly changing and complex business climate.

Your Impact

  • Leads the design process for networking systems and communications, including CBTC (Communications Based Train Control) for transit projects

  • Draws on experience in A/E design process to produce final constructible plans and specifications

  • Analyzes project task needs, changes and enhancements and makes recommendations

  • Serves as Task Lead on projects, medium to high complexity and provides direction for projects, able perform and complete task independently

  • Assist to resolve design issues and questions from contractor.

  • Communicate and coordinate with contractor and the project team.

  • Must be able to perform a detailed comparison of the design drawings against the contract requirements.

  • Analyzes project task needs, changes and enhancements and makes recommendations.

  • Prepares and gives briefings and presentations, advise senior management.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

  • Stays abreast of industry changes and requirements, policies, procedures and legislation

  • Strong understanding of scope, schedule and budget

  • Assist with development of other engineers and transfer of technical knowledge/skills

  • Ability to travel or perform occasional field surveys

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree.

  • Minimum 12 years of network engineering experience, Minimum 5 years of CBTC engineering experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Technical writing, analytical and communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.

  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional registration, PE in NY or NJ is preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with NY area transportation agencies such as Amtrak, LIRR, MetroNorth, NJT, NYCT, PANYNJ and their technical approach.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
