Reporting to : Facility Manager

Wage:24.50 - 30.00$/hour

Mission

The Scale Operator is responsible for helping to carry out the daily operational and administrative tasks associated with the use of the scale. The incumbent of this position is responsible for using the scales, the scale computer and software programs, performing data entry and maintaining records. This position also requires sorting and recording incoming loads at the weigh booth and directing vehicles entering and leaving the facility.

Shift Information

Monday to Friday alternating day and night on a monthly basis. Example: January by day, February by night, March by day, etc.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute operational sequences to receive and exit vehicles from the entry and exit scales;

  • Help check all components of the scale system to ensure everything is working properly;

  • Maintain a control environment in the weigh booth to ensure proper operation of the computerized scale system;

  • Assist in following key printer start-up instructions as needed;

  • Operate traffic control signaling devices to allow vehicles to pass through the weighbridge area and exit the facility;

  • Issue receipts to vehicle drivers and collect shipping tickets (tickets);

  • Carry out minor maintenance and repair work on scales;

  • Answer the phone, take messages and provide current information;

  • Use computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendaring, email and database software to accomplish tasks;

  • May perform related tasks as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluent in English and French;

  • Computer literacy;

  • Obtaining a high school diploma;

  • Experience working with scales is an asset;

  • Very good administrative and organizational skills;

  • Ability to communicate effectively with drivers and staff;

  • Able to work the majority of the time seated.
