WSP USA Group Manager, South Coast Permitting and Planning in Vancouver, British Columbia

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Group Manager to lead our South Coast Permitting and Planning team, part of the Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment (EcoEIA) business in BC. Reporting to the Director of EcoEIA, this is a dual role where you will provide both leadership of a 25+-person team and senior level technical and project management expertise to support a variety of projects that range in type, size and complexity.

You will join a growing team of regulatory specialists, biologists, socio-economists and project managers based in South Coast region of BC, with offices in Vancouver, Langley, Victoria and Nanaimo. As Group Manager, you will play a critical role in delivering our strategic objectives and continue to build and grow our ecology related services.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will support project managers and take on team lead responsibilities including:

  • Review of cost estimates and other client deliverables within your assigned delegation of authority (DOA).

  • Supporting employees to prioritize and organize their work to meet utilization targets and project commitments.

  • Supporting employees with career development and performance, including team mentorship.

  • Participate in human resources activities throughout the year, including annual performance and salary reviews, hiring and recruitment processes, and employee onboarding and offboarding.

  • Working with the EcoEIA Director and Vice President, support the financial success of the team by monitoring financial results and working to implement changes or improvements to achieve desired financial results.

  • Communicate company policies and mandates as provided by leadership or elsewhere to the Permitting and Planning team and oversee their application if necessary.

  • Foster collaboration across the EcoEIA team and other WSP Business Lines.

  • Inspire team commitment to our WSP Guiding Principles and Vision.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Permitting and Planning team project managers.

  • Participate in business development activities to support growth of the Permitting and Planning team and strengthen client relationships.

  • Lead monthly group meetings for the Permitting and Planning team.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • University degree (minimum undergraduate) in environmental or natural sciences, environmental engineering or other directly related disciplines.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a consulting environment with a focus on ecological project delivery.

  • Professional registration (R.P.Bio, P.Ag, RPP etc.) within British Columbia.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse teams and with multiple priorities.

  • Strong business acumen and financial management experience, developing, tracking and forecasting on annual budgets.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated success in team management and leadership, with a focus on fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong demonstration of health and safety leadership.

  • Commitment to technical excellence and ability to write proposals and technical reports.

Compensation

Salary Range (in British Colombia): $99,500 - $164,200

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
