As Coordinator, the successful candidate will lead the School of Management's (SOM) Transformational Leadership Program (TLP), a three-year leadership development program for invited School of Management students. The nationally-recognized TLP is designed to promote successful professional trajectories for students facing barriers by providing personalized academic and career development opportunities tailored to individual needs.

In addition to leading, reviewing and adapting the TLP to ensure it continues to develop SOM students and position them for success both at Binghamton University and in their future endeavors, the Coordinator will participate in all aspects of the program, including advising and mentoring students; coordinating with alumni, the Binghamton University Foundation, admissions, career services and other offices on campus; providing oversight for the TLP curricular offerings and awards; and continuing to develop and implement initiatives that enhance the student experience. The successful candidate will work closely with the SOM Dean's Office and units across the University to become a key partner in SOM recruitment, student success planning and other key SOM leadership initiatives.

This appointment will be for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal. It carries a full-year obligation, and periodic weekend and evening responsibilities will be included. The Coordinator will report to the Assistant Dean of the School of Management, Linda Reynolds.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Monitor the academic progress of TLP students, including schedule building and course selection, academic planning and recovery plans, the assignment of tutorial support, career and professional development, and the monitoring of progress towards degree.

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead others, with a particular focus on mentoring.

  • Provide timely and accurate reports on the academic status of TLP students to the Assistant Dean of the SOM.

  • Effectively manage all working professional relationships, including regular and consistent contact and communication with TLP students, SOM Undergraduate Academic Advising staff, and the SOM Dean's Office.

  • Make necessary and appropriate referrals to campus support resources.

  • Think strategically and creatively in planning leadership and professional development programming.

  • Articulate a vision for how the TLP can contribute to the University's success in recruiting and equipping students for a successful trajectory upon graduation.

  • Be available for occasional evening and weekend work.

    Job Requirements:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents.

  • Ability to work in a fast-faced environment.

  • Availability to work weekends and evening hours on occasion.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree

  • Experience building student professional skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience coordinating and/or leading a student leadership development program.

    Additional Information:

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 annually.
