Reporting to the Director of Sponsored Programs, the Grant Specialist assists in providing support to members of the Binghamton University research and sponsored programs community.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify potential funding opportunities and disseminate information to University community; assist faculty with establishing funding database profiles and searches.

  • Assist with the preparation and submission of grant proposals to federal and non-federal sponsors; prepare complex, multi-year budgets and related justifications.

  • Review proposals ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and sponsor requirements.

  • Assist with preparation of documents for award establishment.

  • Understand and operate within a framework of federal, state and sponsor regulations, as well as policies of Binghamton University and The Research Foundation for SUNY.

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and minimum one-year experience in an administrative role.

  • Proven analytical, critical thinking, and planning and organizing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Self-direction and motivation, with ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple deadlines and take initiative, consulting with the appropriate parties as needed.

  • Proficiency in the use of computers and business software with the ability to quickly learn new applications and systems.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with representatives at all levels of the organization and outside partners, and to interact collegially within a diverse community while exhibiting tact and discretion.

    Additional Information:

Salary: $50,000 Annually. Please note, this position involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work and will require the incumbent to be onsite 100% of the time.
