The ABU (Automotive Business Unit) remote test infrastructure relies on IP cameras and on devices called Test Controllers, which basically consist of a Shuttle-Board or Raspberry Pi equipped with a relay board. At the moment about fifty such devices are connected to target boards and placed on shelves. This infrastructure has proved very useful to allow teams located in different geographic areas to work remotely. The number of remote devices is growing and at the same time th effort to keep this infrastructure in operation is increasing (configuration of new test setups, flashing boards, adding/removing peripherals, debugging connection problems, etc.). To cope with this increase in effort we are looking for a working student (Werkstudent).

Location : Villingen-Schwenningen (work from the office: 2-3 days a week - not hybrid)

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Configuration : Set up new Test Controllers and IP cameras for operational readiness.

  • Test Setup Preparation : Create and prepare new test environments to meet project requirements.

  • Testing Concept Improvement : Enhance the overall testing framework to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Cable and Hardware Management : Improve the organization and handling of cables and hardware components.

  • Test Infrastructure Optimization : Streamline test infrastructure for better performance and reliability.

  • Hardware Maintenance : Perform restarting/flashing of boards and manage the addition/removal of peripherals.

  • Troubleshooting : Identify and resolve connection issues to ensure seamless test operations.

  • Development Support : Craft tools and scripts to support testing processes and assist development teams in troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

  • Embedded Systems : A keen interest in working with Embedded devices.

  • Operating Systems : Familiarity with Linux is preferred.

  • Hardware : Enthusiasm for Raspberry Pi and Shuttle Board technologies.

  • Programming : A strong interest in Python programming, particularly in the context of automation.

  • Test Automation : A passion for learning and applying test automation techniques.

  • Flexibility : Availability to work onsite at our Villingen-Schwenningen office for 2-3 days a week.
