Zero Point, Inc Accounting Manager in Virginia Beach, Virginia

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

The Accounting Manager reports to the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration in the performance of a variety of tasks and is primarily responsible for managing daily financial transactions and tasks related to all facets of the operation and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the ERP and other company systems consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate ethics, goals, and objectives. A proficient level of accounting, business experience and judgment are required to plan and accomplish goals. Responsibilities are expected to be completed accurately, on a timely basis, with minimal supervision.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the financial reporting and analysis of the Commercial Products business. The Accounting manager is responsible for all accounting functions, such as financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, budget preparation, cash management, General Ledger, business accounting practices, and others of this business.

  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls and audits accounting transactions to minimize risk.

  • Responsible for cash management to include Cash Flow Forecasts for the Commercial Products business.

  • Manages all financial related elements of the company’s ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) in support of Commercial Products.

  • Responsible for maintaining standard cost accounting and inventory accuracy.

  • Develops and manages business and accounting processes, tools, analysis, and reporting to generate and manage Financial Statements, Revenue Forecasts, Budgets, Reconciliations, and other such business and financial performance metrics.

  • Production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other financial reporting standards as required.

  • Prepares and manages all external audit requirements, such as insurance audits, tax preparation, and other financial regulatory audits.

  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates and collaborates with outside auditors, providing information as needed.

  • Develops and manages company Subcontractor contracts and relationships.

  • Assist accounting staff with daily duties as necessary to complete tasks accurately and on time.

  • Presents recommendations to management on financial objectives and policies.

  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

  • Responsibilities are expected to be completed accurately, on a timely basis in support of senior leadership, corporate policies, and goals.

  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.

  • Employs continual improvement practices to streamline processes using automated data mining, workflows, and other such tools and techniques, to improve accounting effectiveness and efficiency.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.

  • Eight years or more of related experience required.

  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.

  • Firm knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Firm knowledge of Accounting Practices related to commercial manufacturing and inventory best practices.

  • Highly proficient in ERP accounting software specific to manufacturing cost accounting and inventory practices.

  • Microsoft Business Dynamics experience preferred.

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.

  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business software
